I second Jerry's recommendation of syringe dispense. You can get incredibly well controlled volume and positioning with a pneumatic dispenser, I've done a fair number of 01005 passives (itty bitty, stack 36 of them on top of an 0603) that way, dispensing dots on the order of 0.005" or ~500 picoliters. There was one for $25 at the Tek surplus store last time I was there; it's really not much more than a pneumatic valve, pressure regulator, timer and foot pedal. For QFN, hand dispense with a syringe would probably work fine too. For reflow, hot air or hot plate. I've used a Madell 850D hot air gun for years, works great on small jobs like this. Hakko makes a number of models too, as do any number of other Chinese vendors. --Ward
