I'm not clear in what context you want to put $\frac{\sqrt{A}}{b}$
but guess from your other remarks that you've been composing a text in
oowriter, but want to use some maths that's beyond oowriter's powers ?
Maybe something much more complicated than your simple example ?
If you are really converting from a real wordprocessor (such as oowriter)
to lyx (which is a front-end for a kind of LaTeX), I'd be very interested
to hear how you get on. I use LaTeX a lot but not lyx.
BTW Chris Dennis did sqrt(A/b), above I did (sqrt A)/b .
Of course TeX can print either on one line instead of using \frac.
Best wishes anyway,
John
