Terry - my Netbook version specified a network connection in the install dialogue. It automatically hacked the B43 and I had nothing to do once I pulled the Ethernet out. Also - the xorg.conf hack works again and I have an external monitor port. The problem with the upgrade install seems to have been conflicting files. This is turning out to be a really sweet little number. Going to have to buy £30 worth of memory for my netbook though, to give it headroom for imaging apps. That is the ONLY negative I now have.
