Victor, Might I suggest that you lose a bit of that 160Gb partition for another (20?Gb) Partition and use Clonezilla to back up an image of the Vista partition. I use Kubuntu on my main machine, with an XP partition to drive my scanner, and my other play computers have xubuntu on them (except for the one that I put Windows 8 on the other week.) I should heed my own advice and clonezilla that XP partition somewhere. I found that webcams and USB digital tv stick both work well on Kubuntu. TV stick is used with KAffeine.
