Hi,

My new car (a Mini) claims to be capable of playing music from a USB Stick. The manual is pretty poor; but the AI assistant simply says:

"To play music from a USB stick in your MINI, connect the USB stick to the USB port in your vehicle. The system should automatically detect the USB device, and you can navigate through the music files using the MINI's infotainment system. Ensure the files are in a compatible format like MP3 or AAC for smooth playback."

I replied to this with:

"The Mini does not detect the stick!"

and got back (amongst other ideas):

"Remove Extra Files: Ensure the USB stick contains only music files and no additional folders or hidden files."

All of my music is stored in directories, one per CD, so it looks like I need to move all the files out of the directories and delete the empty directories. Obviously, I can drag and drop the files, or I can use the shell to move the files from each directory to the root of the directory structure, But what I would really like is a single shell command to move all of the files and then delete the folders.

Could anyone suggest a suitable incantation? (I do have a backup of the contents of the stick.)
