Here is a very strange problem that someone reported to me, and which I have now confirmed under the latest git version built and running under up-to-date Ubuntu.
In both WordPerfect for DOS 5.1+ and WordPerfect for DOS 6.2, when $_cpu_emu = "vm86sim", every line in a WordPerfect document moves to the far left edge of the page. Even if the left margin is set at 2 cm. or 3 inches, the text moves to the left edge of the page itself. (Actually to a margin of 0.25 inches, or whatever WordPerfect thinks is the edge of the printable area on the page.) This problem is visible in Print Preview (Shift-F7, View Document), and also on printed output. If $_cpu_emu = "vm86", then this problem does not occur in WordPerfect 5.1+, and all pages are printed normally. Unfortunately, with that setting, WordPerfect 6.2 does not run at all. The same problem occurs with all other CPU emulation options that I tried. Only "vm86" produces the correct page layout, and, of course, it does so only with WordPerfect 5.1+, because WordPerfect 6.x does not run with the "vm86" setting. Steps to reproduce: 1. Edit ~/.dosemurc so that $_cpu_emu = "vm86sim" 2. Launch dosemu and lredir a director that contains WordPerfect. 3. Start WordPerfect for DOS. 4. Type a few words. 5. Press Shift-F7, then either View (in WPDOS 5.1+) or Preview (in WPDOS 6.x). The typed words will appear at the left edge of the page. Repeat with "vm86" instead of "vm86sim", and see how the typed words are correctly indented to the left margin.
