Hi,

Here you can find a list of problems that were corrected in IE 5.01:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q244655

and here is the description of SP 1:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q261268

As you can see from these kb articles, there were a lot of nasty
problems corrected in IE 5.01 SP1. Additionally, I know for sure that
not all of the problems were actually listed these in the KB articles.
So, if your customers are running IE 5 version then you don't actually
want them to run anything before IE 5.01 SP1 because it could really
affect your application stability even so you can think you are not
using IE at all, but use some unrelated (from the first sight)
technology like f.e. std. COM marshalling.

Subject: Re: [DOTNET] why IE 5.01

I can understand Win95 a bit but I just wish I had a better
understanding of
why IE 5.01 is required and not IE 5.0. One would hope there is a
technical
reason but with M$ you never know.
