The overwhelming success of DevelopMentor's DOTNET list over the past 22 months has
been both a blessing and a
burden to the .NET developer community. The popularity of this list has resulted in an
enormous volume of
traffic, making it difficult for some subscribers to participate in discussions that
are of particular interest
to them while safely ignoring less applicable conversations without fear of "missing
out" on something
important to their work.

To deal with this, DevelopMentor has decided to repartition this list into a small
number of more focused lists
that each cater to particular communities of developers. In keeping with the spirit
of the Common Language
Runtime, we will offer 3 framework-centric lists that focus on Windows application
development, web application
and web service development, and the CLR. These forums will provide a place for
developers using any .NET
language to seek out or assist developers working on similar areas of development on
the .NET platform:

DOTNET-WEB
Discussion of building .NET applications targeted for the Web. This includes both
traditional "Web
applications" designed for browser-based clients as well as "Web services" designed
for other applications to
consume. Possible topics include ASP.NET, the HTTP pipeline, System.Web, System.Xml,
etc.

DOTNET-WINFORMS
Discussion forum for developers using Windows Forms to build applications and
controls. Possible topics
include building custom controls, working with the forms designer, the mechanics of
web-based deployment,
installation and configuration, etc.

DOTNET-CLR
Discussion forum for developers looking for assistance on issues that affect all forms
of application and
component development on the .NET platform. Possible topics include code access
security, remoting,
reflection, memory management and finalization, concurrency, assembly resolution, etc.

This list will remain active for a 30-day grace period. After that time, only the
archives will remain
available. New subscriptions and postings will no longer be allowed.

Our hope is that you will subscribe to one or more of the new, more focused, lists
according to your own
interests. We hope that the inconvenience of having to subscribe to a different lists
will be outweighed by
the improved experience of participating in more focused discussion forums.

Additionally, we will continue to offer our other DOTNET-related lists, as well as a
few new lists. Please
