Hello!

Considering the time necessary to achieve all the ongoing work and your
impatience to see your work officially online ;), I propose our next
DoudouLinux release be the 2010-11. This will let us from 2 to 6 weeks to
finish pending tasks. Improvements for this release should most likely be
(correct me if I'm wrong or if I missed something):

* localization
   - French: Lx apps
   - Arabic, Spanish: system environment
   - Romanian, Russian: system environment + Lx apps + pysycache/gcompris
* system
   - web content filtering using DansGuardian
   - cute GUI for mouse and sound settings
   - removed delay on network DHCP messages at boot
   - bug fixes (crash on ext4 + persistence, install, USB creator tools)
   - new --dry-run option in DoudouLinux tools to test GUI without damaging you
computer!
   - new devtools script to install translation tools in a running DoudouLinux
box (full persistence recommended)
* documentation
   - almost completed for English, French, Romanian, Russian
* source code
   - move all translation files into a single SVN branch 'lang/'
   - use PO files for “rewrite scripts” too

Well, it seems we've not been sleeping during the past 2 months… We likely need
to complete these different tasks in the following order because of their
inter-dependencies:

1. source code
2. system
3. localization
4. documentation

I'm currently working on source code changes, this is nearly achieved. For the
second point I just need to improve the DansGuardian content error page AFAIK.
Localization and documentation don't need 1 and 2 to go on, but for
DansGuardian there will be additional texts to be translated and certainly a
new web page to write. Of course this is better to generate the 2010-11 images
when documentation is ready!

So ready for the launch?

I wish you a good night/morning depending on your time zone,

JM.

NB:
* We should certainly read the SVN history of the past 2 months to be sure
documentation is up to date (see
http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/doudoulinux/?view=log).
* I can still build intermediary versions to let you check translations on a
weekly base but not shorter
