Hello!

Unfortunately it's been difficult to work for next release during the past
week, but we have some good reasons not to feel guilty (see the monthly stats
:) ). For our new contributors, let's first explain that I proposed last month
to release a new version of DoudouLinux (DDL) in November. We are in November!
New languages may not be so much translated until this release but this is not
a problem: we will release your language too!

Now let's see what was planned…

It's still right. For our new members, I think this release will have a killer
feature: web content filtering to prevent our children from visiting “naughty”
websites. I also plan to publish many new “raw” languages (= no translator to
do the job, yet ;) ).

> Concerning system improvement, only bug fixes should now be required.

Yes, except that many tickets have been written since 2 weeks… I would like you
to look at our bug and task lists:

https://gna.org/bugs/?group=doudoulinux
https://gna.org/task/?group=doudoulinux

For next release I would like to solve or find a workaround for these bugs:

https://gna.org/bugs/?16892
https://gna.org/bugs/?17013
https://gna.org/bugs/?17027
https://gna.org/bugs/?16890
https://gna.org/bugs/?16925
https://gna.org/bugs/?16943
https://gna.org/bugs/?16090
https://gna.org/bugs/?16893
https://gna.org/bugs/?16928
https://gna.org/bugs/?16951
https://gna.org/bugs/?16952

(don't worry many of them already have solutions!)

And to achieve these tasks:

https://gna.org/task/?7237
https://gna.org/task/?7212
https://gna.org/task/?7117
https://gna.org/task/?7161

Please take the necessary time to write additional information to the tickets
whenever needed and switch them to “done” when it makes sense. Of course our
new contributors can help too by downloading the latest CD's from the
dailybuild section and by testing by themselves. Here is the link:

http://download.doudoulinux.org/livecd/dailybuild/

The same exists with USB keys (try liveusb instead of livecd) but they may be
not as fresh as CD's. Finally people who have technical skills can tell me if
they feel like solving one ticket or more by themselves, I'm not selfish
concerning tickets! ;) I'd even say that I prefer seeing you working
temporarily on technical issues than on filling PO files or writing pages.

The question is still unanswered about language progress… But now PO files are
better than ever thanks to Transifex which hosts many of our applications too.
I also see modified PO files coming again to me: we're on a good way.

*Important*: please now only get your PO files from SVN or Transifex.

I didn't change my point of view: still a lot to do and even more than I
initially thought. For our new members, you can know what reference pages have
changed on the history page per language:

http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/ecrire/?exec=suivi_revisions&id_secteur=2

http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/ecrire/?exec=suivi_revisions&id_secteur=1

The first one is English, the second one is French. Please also note that many
pages in the developers section need updating due to the switch to Transifex.

Well, there's still a lot of work… But I'm confident we should be able to land
DDL 2010-11 in late November!

Sincerely yours,

JM.
