Hello!

Our latest release is being much downloaded with around 10,000 pieces sold out
within a week and few days. A direct consequence is that we have few new user
requests and issue reports. As expected our project is still attracting new
contributors and we're trying to do more to attract them :).

All the best,
JM.

PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to
answer this mail with your scoop!

Team
=====

* 3 people joined the team on Transifex this week:

  - Dots asked to start the Indonesian team
  - Hackey and Lemings asked to join the Latvian team

They are already at work. Welcome to our project!

Organization
===========

* I recall that we have an IRC channel #doudoulinux on freenode. You can come
and discuss any topic there instead of exchanging (private) mails. I'm mostly
available on IRC between 20h and 22h GMT, sometimes between 13h and 15h GMT on
Tuesday and Thursday. Elisa is more present during the western Europe day
(depends on her professional activity of course).

* Thanks to Xavier we now have a second download mirror in Belgium hosted by
his company zoyo.be. The mirror is activated and downloads are now randomly
shared out between the 3 servers. Our first mirror has already seen 5.5 TB
downloaded.

* We now have a full-featured torrent software on our server [1]. It reports
that 77 CD's have been downloaded with its torrents [2], a good start. I invite
you to share your own DDL CD's too as soon as your computer is on. This is a
good way to offer bandwidth to the project :).

* It seems our email accounts on doudoulinux.org are automatically blocked
after several months nobody has logged in. As a result I figured out that
Redmine was not able to send emails anymore. It's now been fixed. Don't
hesitate to re-ask your password if you encounter the issue too, and feel free
to ask me an email account if you've been dreaming of
<[email protected]> for weeks ;).

* Redmine: there are still tickets to be moved from our former project
management software Gna [3]. Please move/close the tickets you're owning,
unless their history is huge.

Translations
============

* Many translations submitted on Transifex for Danish (Joe), Latvian (Hackey,
Lemings, Tranzistors), Malay (PureTech), Norwegian Bokmal (Ehtele), Portuguese
BR (Flavio) and Portuguese PT (WilsonMint).

* I updated the resource “website-download” on Transifex [1] since I added a
torrent link in the download box newly added (see our homepages on Spip [2]).

* Ehtele created a video [3] showing how easy translating DDL is :). We should
host it on our website and create a dedicated page. Who to do this?

Website
=======

* I started to update our section “Translate DDL”. It was really needing such
update since it was still referring to blocking bugs in Transifex and icon
files needing to be manually translated. I removed many sentences, which makes
it easier to read. Proofreading will be required, but I still have some work.

* New French articles from Elisa and me: “Dépôts de paquets Debian”,
“Télécharger les dailybuilds”.

* New Malay articles from PureTech: “Pasukan dan penyumbang”, “Fail
Terjemahan”, “Mereka berbicara tentangnya…” and “Logo DoudouLinux”.

* New Russian articles from Sergey: “Скачать промежуточные версии”,
“Репозитарий пакетов Debian”.

* Salvatore and Flavio will work together on translating our website into both
Portuguese [1].

* There are a lot of obsolete screenshots in our pages. Who would agree to
update them on Spip?

Communication
=============

* Salvatore is still monitoring our DistroWatch ranking [1]. Our best score is
8th for the past 7 days ranking. We all want it to be our long term score :).

* God's going to bless our project ;) [2] – still from Salvatore.

* We now have several videos on Youtube posted by our anonymous promoters [3].

* Many websites talked about us during the past 7 days.

Support
=======

* Constantin, our Greek translator, had troubles installing DDL on HD. It seems
there is an encoding issue in the DDL tool, plus what the DDL installer really
does was not clear enough (a Live install indeed, not a real install).

* DDL doesn't boot on Pentium II since it ships a 686 kernel, not a 386 one.
This may be annoying in some French schools [1]. I proposed to build a 386
image but did not get any answer yet.

* In Mexico a teacher has difficulties to install DDL [2]. We may need our
Spanish speaking contributors to contact him since he wrote his mail in Spanish.

* A mail was sent in French on our forum list. The author had troubles with
hardware detection but we don't know what version of DDL [3]. Discussion are on
the go.

* A French user is complaining about the clock which is not correct [4]. We
still have no documentation page on this topic.
