Dear Albert,
I’m using the version 1.8.9.1.
The standard output displays something similar to :
Searching for include files...
Searching for example files...
…
Generating file index...
Generating file member index...
Generating example index...
finalizing index lists...
writing tag file...
Running dot...
Running html help compiler...
lookup cache used 16/65536 hits=51 misses=17
finished...
And the error output will displays this :
warning: source ../example is not a readable file or directory... skipping.
error: failed to run html help compiler on index.hhp
and when I do not separate the standard and error stream:
…
Generating file index...
Generating file member index...
Generating example index...
finalizing index lists...
writing tag file...
Running dot...
Running html help compiler...
error: failed to run html help compiler on index.hhp
lookup cache used 16/65536 hits=51 misses=17
finished...
I checked the ERRORLEVEL at the end of the doxygen program and it seems to be
0, but when I call it inside a custom build rule in Visual Studio, it detects
the output error and stops compiling.
With the version 1.7.4, I used before, I get: more warnings due to new options
in 1.8 file but not the error.

Objet : Re: [Doxygen-users] Generating CHM always display error
Dear Pascal
Would be nice to see what kind of error messages.
What happens with version 1.8.9.1?
Can you create a small example to show the problem?

Hi,
Since I upgraded to Doxygen 1.8.9, each time I use it to generate a CHM, it
reports an error while generating CHM (using HHC.exe) but everything is OK. I
have the CHM and it is correctly displayed (as expected).
It worked fine with Doxygen 1.7.
