Here's a few more ideas for searches that would work well in DQSD
through an alternative view-port (some of which may require addins in
order to be feasible):

  * Color-picker
  * Volume control/Equalizer (mp3 player?)
  * anything requiring one or more drop-down menus for
    interactive value assignment
  * Live stock ticker
  * progress bar (tracking progress of downloads or any
    action that exposed state via class events)
  * Live stats (my personal site provides methods to pull
    current activity in a very short (3 lines) "quick stats"
    page, it could be reduced even more and stuffed in DQSD
    - I can't be the only one that would do this - and it
    could still be HTML, providing direct links to the
    page(s), post(s) and file(s) listed)
  * News highlights/RSS ticker
  * Quote-of-the-day, tip-of-the-day, word-of-the-day, and
    other -of-the-day type things
  * "Multiple state displays" - ie; display several table
    cells including two or more of a clock, screen resolution,
    current login user name, uptime, free memory, running
    tasks, SQL Server connections...
  * button-face calculator (granted, _very_small_ buttons :)
  * interactive clipboard manager (could even persist beyond
    sessions if done right)

...all of those could display directly within the DQSD toolbar with
little more than a bit of DHTML. No new browser window would need to
be opened. I believe it would make it more functional in the sense
that it's not perceived as simply a "start button" for finding/doing
something on the internet but can serve many of your "needs" -
directly - locally.
