Everything was working as well as it should. So to test John's problem I uninstalled IE 7 B2. Then rebooted, then reinstalled it and rebooted again. Now my DQSD bar was gone. Re-added it with the right click on the task bar and i get the adjuster band on the left and the word sear ch on the right but thats it, no content no DQSD.

From what you said, it seemed that you only get a blank deskband? That is,
you see the little chevron or whatever it's called -- the vertical thin bar
that you can move. That sounds like bad news.
DQSD without attempts at a custom host uses the Microsoft BrowserBand for
hosting, so that must be registered. Do you have a key at:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{7BA4C742-9E81-11CF-99D3-00AA004AE837}
?
I'm thinking maybe they retired it in IE7 :-/
If it's there, I'm not sure what's wrong...
