Neil:   Yes, it is a common problem.  Change the 6EA8 (V1).  When the tube gets weak the first thing that goes are the higher frequency crystals. If changing the tube doesn't do the trick,  be sure all band crystals are tweaked per manual (L1, L2, L5).
