Last month at our clubs monthly breakfast the ham sitting next to me asked if I knew anyone interested in a Drake 6 Meter radio. I told him I was and that I had been looking for one for some time that I could afford. He said that he had one that he bought a while back and had never even tried out and that it was in storage. I asked how much he wanted for it and he said I could have it for what he had paid for it, $50.00. He said he just wanted to get rid of it because he had too much stuff in paid storage. I of course told him I would buy it even though I had not seen it. Well today we went over to his storage unit and I loaded it into my car and gave him the $50 for the rig. I had originally thought I was only buying a TR-6, nothing else. I haven't tested it out yet but here is what I got for the $50. The TR-6 in very good physical and cosmetic condition sn.#570 with the noise blanker. The RV-6 in very good physical and cosmetic condition sn.#065 with the AC-3 power supply. The original Drake manual for the TR-6 with the purchase date of Oct. 18, 1974 and the serial number written inside the front cover. I don't have a lot of money and can't compete with the guys that can just write a check for just about anything they want. Sometimes we just get lucky. I just wanted to share my joy with the rest of the group. This will pretty much complete the major Drake items I wanted for my Drake station and will compliment my R-4C, T-4XC, R-4B, and AC-4. The only other semi-major item I need is the noise blanker for my R-4C. I am hoping I can locate one this next year. I wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
