Last month at our clubs monthly breakfast the ham sitting next to me
asked if I knew anyone interested in a Drake 6 Meter radio.
My story isn't quite that good but suffice to say I'm grateful for my first
gear to be the high ser# B line I have today - my father bought this entire
set of gear for a 12 year old kid with his novice license that's now 36 with
his extra ticket - and i've still using the original set of 6JB6s thanks to
my grandfather giving me a good lesson on dipping the plate hi
But it wasn't until I went through a half dozen other makes and models of
gear until I got the B line out of the closet before I realized what sort of
gems these things really are. Followed closely by the 2-NT and 2-C... and
a souped up Ten-Tec Omni VI...
Been having fun with the 2-NT and 2-C on 7035 for Straight Key night. I
wound up cheating a little bit and fed my L4 with the 2-NT for a bit of
pick-me-up.
