This may be a 2nd instance of an aftermarket improvement for the 7-line. I
think I might like that "all blue" look myself. Couple that with the BLACK
replacement cabinets that have become available and I think you'd have
yourself a really nice looking 7-line! In my opinion, the black cabinets
look better than the late run gray ones that replaced the "3M sticky paint".
Do up all the 7-line accessories in black cabinets with blue lighting - I
hope Bob would be pleased!
Those of us who are not as "adventurous" in the blue LED/7segment arena, can
get a "better blue" look with Donnie Garrett's replacement blue meter and
dial filters for the 4-line and 7-line. I have done every single 4-line and
7-line Drake piece I own with these to gain a uniform blue look. They
really improve the 7-lines and are easy to install on the meter and the dial
window - look a lot better than washed-out green which they have all faded
to by now.

I just finished installing a replacement BLUE LED display from Willi Rass,
DF4NW, in my TR7, and all I can say is WOW, it sure looks COOL! Somewhere,
Bob Drake is smiling right now....
This may be the first all-blue TR7 in the world - the ALC LED had already
been replaced with blue years ago, and the dial and meter lamps are blue
LEDs
as well. I left the red and yellow indicators as-is, gotta have something
there for accent! The result is a blue-er than original appearance. The
purists are probably shuddering right now, but I like it!
I can't say enough about Willi's product. The PCB is high quality and
professionally made, and the display LEDs have a very even, pleasing
color.
I've been trying to take some pics, but my $100 digital camera just
doesn't
do it justice.
If his red and green displays are anything like the blue one, this is not
just a replacement, it's an UPGRADE.
