The comments on the TR4_/R4_ blanker also apply to the TR7_/R7_ blanker: great for pulse noise, ineffectual for atmospherics. The TR7 blanker was designed during the days of the Russian Woodpecker and was amazingly effective against it. The best classic rig for noise control I've used was the Atlas 350XL; had a blanker for impulse noise and a limiter for atmospherics (at least that's my recollection; haven't used one since switching to the TR7 twenty some years ago, hi).
