I look at HOA with the same disdain as I do towards govenment....when they want more, they simply raise their assesments/taxes. I was volunteering at a senior center when one of our senators came in to tell all the old folks what he was doing for their health care....at a small silence, I asked him if he was doing such a great job that he would take the same health care and retirement as the common man. Years ago I bought a house in a community that had a covenant that dictated that the trim on the houses all had the be cream. I noticed that it expired in two years....and as soon as it did expire I immediately touched up the trim...with orange and purple. The "committe" came to visit...and I invited them in and gave them a tour of the house...with the many multi-colored things my wife had painted....and the antennae, and the outdoor speakers....and told them, as I escorted them off the property that if they ever stepped foot on my property again, I would file trespassing charges against them. So, it would appear that one needs to move way out in the country...or into the slums to escape the yuppies....but they WILL find you, and regulate you!
