In the TR-4, the three final tube filaments are in parallel, and then
series with eight other tubes and the two sideband indicator lamps. So
if the final tubes draw 1.6A of filament current, they will be higher
resistance than the 1.2A of the 'JBs, resulting in more than 6.3V across
the final tubes and less than 6.3V across the other eight tubes and
pilot lamps.
The 'GJs have the correct 1.2A filament current, and so would be the
second choice for the TR-4/C. The TR-3 used 12JB6s and so was wired
differently.

My TR-4 seems just fine at the moment.. I am trying to pick up on
your comment about the Tr-4 below: " Certainly not in the TR-4
series, since the filament current for the 'KM is 1.6A vs the 1.2A for
the 'JB, and the filaments of the TR-4 are a series/parallel
combination." What do you recommend for the TR-4 ?
