I fired-up the station for demo, & that meant turning the filaments of the homebrewed kilowatt 813's on: a low "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrumph" as the cooling fan commenced spinning, and then a "Hummm Ker-CHUNK" as the step-start relay for the B+ kicked in... My friend laughed, & said aloud, "This is just like that old Tony Hancock radio skit recording of 'The Radio Ham'!" I had to agree, and started to laugh myself.
