Lorne, I believe small random frequency jumps were addressed by Drake with a modification to the sliding bar on the PTO screw mechanism. The fix involved grounding the bar with a small piece of flexible braid. The cause was grease on the tuning mechanism creating an intermittent contact. Unfortunately you have to remove the digital board to see if the bar is grounded. I had an early serial numbered unit which had the mod done by Drake when it went back to the factory for a different problem. Someone on the list may have more specific information as to after what serial number the mod was no longer required or instructions for doing it in the field.
