Karl Corder <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang

Gary, thank you very much for your comment. Actually,
before my antenna came down I was using
a dipole fed with 450 ohm line into an MFJ antenna
tuner but no balun. It worked pretty good for
only being up 26 feet but since I had to move it and
my wife said there wasn't anyway that she was
going to help me put it up again( toooo exciting), I
thought I would ask around and see if there
is anything better and easier to install. I do have a
brand new G5RV that i have never used and is
still in the box. I may use this antenna but don't
know yet. When we first moved here from calif. we
rented a house
and I put up a dipole that really was a inverted V cut
for 20 meters and I made 600 ohm line and an antenna
tuner.
The tunner looked awful but worked great. I used a tr4
and could not believe how well it
'got out on 20 meters, we had sandy soil at that
location and it wasn't but about 22 feet off the
ground.
Where we are now is Dolomite (rock) not very
conductive. Thanks for your comment -Karl
