To aadelma who ever you are

Can anybody recommend a decent DMM ... Something with a fair sized display
for my aging eyes would be great. I don't need laboratory accuracy, just a
reliable instrument.

On a personal basis I use a Fluke 97 auto ranging, many pluses some of which
are 1 & 10 ms. min max snapshots and a nice frequency read out, but alas
only to 4 KHz., diode and capacitor check...impedence is 10 M ohm, digits are
1/2 "

Also have a Beckman, can't remember the model, not auto ranging, simpler, 20
M ohm impedence, diode check is slightly nicer than above but I'd keep the
Fluke as my first choice. Digits btw seem somewhat larger, perhaps 9/16 ".

Both of these DMM's have a 10 Amp shunt.
Both seem to have somewhat hard to locate fuses..... Yes I have goofed a
few times folks.

The Flukes are more atmospheric moisture prone to readout fading segments
but that is easily solved with an easy disassembly and wiping the contact
rubbers down (I use a pencil eraser) that feed the readout panel. I would get
the
big yellow rubber carrier.

The Beckman has a spring wire multi gang function switch, if you slow down
the rotations it will last forever, I've had mine for about 25 years. The
Fluke about 18.
