I just modified a L4B power supply with the heath kit board and I am now ready
to install a
240 volt line and outlet. It will be in a finished basement. I would appreciate
any
advice on this installation.

I do plan on turning the main power switch off and standing on
something more insulative than the damp cement floor.

 For example is
12 gauge wire sufficient? and a 20 amp circuit breaker? Nothing else is
planned to be on this circuit.

Also, does anything need to be replaced/cleaned etc.. in the amplifier before I
fire it up.
This is used equipment of which I have never had on the air and don't know when
the last time
it was used. I do know it hasn't been used in over 2 years.

Also is there a way to test the power supply without rewiring the 240 to 110,
I do have a 275 watt Lionel Train variable transformer.

 would it be possible
to input low voltage into the power supplies 110 line to see if the voltage
doubles on the way
out, like put in 12 volts and see if 24 volts comes out? without burning up
or damaging anything.

I would appreciate any advice you can give me, this site has the best
information and
knowledgeable folks ever. thank you very much -Karl Corder WA2OVJ
