In giving this a little more thought, it seems to me that the PIN diode
attenuator board is an example of treating the "symptoms" rather than
the "disease". It adds another layer of complexity to the transmit
strip (with it's own potential problems) to fix a "problem" that is
inherent in the design of the PA deck.

Wouldn't it be better to redesign the negative feedback networks on the
PA and predriver boards to flatten the gain out over the HF spectrum?
