Bob - I know it's a radical idea, but start with the MANUAL! :-)
Drake left a lot out of the manual, (see my CDs, :-) ,) but the Theory of Operation section is pretty good in most. The early TR-4 is very similar to the TR-3, so that manual would help, and web-based info on the TR-4 as well.
The information at <http://www.dproducts.be/drake_museum/how_to_fix_.htm> is very helpful, although it "may" require some translation of specific component id's.
Another good resource is <http://www.dproducts.be/drake_museum/DrakeMods2005.pdf> for general Drake information.
Lastly, this reflector is a terrific source of information and expertise! Just ask....

Right now the rig (I have tried the power supply on another rig and know it works) will not power up except the OA2 does light up which I understand it normal, so that is a sign of life at least.
