Glenn, First off, all the T4(xx) transmitters are tube type, not solid state. It IS true that more solid state devices are added to the string of both the receivers and transmitters as they go "up", but all of the above transmitters will work with the R4A. I am doing this from memory, and hope Garey or others will chime in and add/correct my thinking, but I seem to remember that the T4XB had better sideband suppression than the T4X, but that would be the only plus I could see. Enjoy the receiver, your Dad has given you a real treasure. 73, Don, WB5HAK ----- Original Message ----- From: Glenn Derbyshire To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, November 29, 2009 2:03 AM Subject: [Drakelist] transmitters compatible with R-4A receiver
Hello, I just joined Drake list because my Dad at 88 years old let me have his old Drake R-4A Receiver. 25 years ago when I was a teen We took Ham radio classes learning code together. Now that I'm more mature I want to carry on in my Dad 's footsteps. My Question is Now having a R-4A (mint ) what transmitter would work the best. T-4X transmitter (mentioned in R-4A Manual) T-4XB (solid state mates with R-4B solid state) Will a T-4XB transmitter work with a R-4A and what would the Plus or Minuses compared to the R-4A ( I have this Unit Already) and a T-4X. Thanks in advance for your comments and opinions Regards, Glenn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Drakelist mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message.
