Hopefully, I am about to get a L4B to function before I croak.
Anyway , this is probably very simple but I do not understand how to
get the relay to operate as it appears to be required if I want to use the L4B
as an amplifier.
I have replaced: the output switch( previous owner broke it in three pieces)
, the( grid, plate, rf output)
meter, the Filament caps and rebuilt the power supply. However, I cannot get
the exciter rf to pass
through the input circuit then to the tubes and then to the output stage. It
seems
evident that I need to get the relay to operate when I pull out the push pull
switch, however
it doesn't activate the relay which will cause the exciter rf to pass through
the amplifier
instead of by-passing it. I have no connection for the VOX or AGC by any chance
is that the problem?
I do get plate voltage in both the cw/standby and PEP positions, like 1700 and
2400 volts. The
tubes light up very nicely and the blower is quiet not much air but lots of
quiet. The exciter is
a T4X.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much - Karl wa2ovj
