Joe -

Don't lube anything except the motor! The only lubrication should be inside the motor "gearbox", which is either glued or soldered shut.

The wheels and shaft should be clean and dry. Be CAREFUL cleaning them. Water only. Windex and just about any other "cleaner" will take the numbers right off.

You can adjust the little beryllium springs inside the rim of each wheel to center the numbers in the window and line them up.

The soldered gearbox can be opened with no "sproing-ing" if the motor is slow. Sometimes cleaning out the old grease and re-lubing with Lubriplate or such will free up a motor that is slow or hot. However a hot motor usually means a shorted turn. So far as I know, no-one has offered a replacement motor. Biggest problem is that EVERY other clock motor I've found runs in the opposite direction!

The Penwood "Numechron" desk or "TV" clocks are the same unit, and those still show up from time to time......

like to clean and lube the gears. How would I clean the gears? What would you
recommend to lube the gears?
