Joe:

My Penwood 24 hr Numerchron clock that I acquired about a year ago was
extremely noisy and running erratic. Here's how lubricated the sealed gearbox.

1. Removed the gearbox from the rest of the clock.
2. Placed the gearbox on a 60W lightbulb to heat it up.
3. Used Q tips to wipe up the old lubrication that oozed out of it (though
there wasn't much that came out).
4. Removed the gearbox from the lightbulb, and while it cooled, kept adding
drops of TriFlo lubricant around the whole surrounding the small metal
gear, until it wouldn't suck in anymore (the cooling clock creates a vacuum
that helps draw in the oil).
5. Wiped up the excess TriFlo and reinstalled the gearbox.

I understand that some of these gearboxes have a small hole on the back to
help accomplish the above.

That was about a year ago and the clock still runs quite and keeps perfect
time.

The above procedure isn't mine, I read it somewhere and have lost the
reference, but it does work.
