I dont want to gross you out or anything, but I picked up an old radio that had been stored in a guys basement and found out after I brought it home that the evil smell, which the owner confirmed later, was from his dogs urine. Not something you want to hear.

Thank you to all who responded to my listing for the "musty" R-4C. The odor from the receiver is definitely a "musty, damp basement (or other storage area)" type of smell. I have numerous other used pieces of RL Drake equipment and none has ever smelled like this R-4C. I presume the radio must have been in storage for some period of time before it was sold to me.
