That "accessories" jack is NOT designed for the use you want. It is only for
accessories like the RV7 or RV75 remote VFO's. What you are doing now is
probably the easiest way to use the TR7 for digital. You can internally wire a
shielded cable to the "spare" RCA jack on the back to the mic plug in the front
(one of the "changes" to make the TR7 a 7A, hi) and use the speaker audio out
in the rear if you like.
