Curmudgeonly John here! (Thom is not the only one)

Of course the lists are valuable and I'm eternally grateful for people like Garey who do so much to help us all. And of course it's the intent of lists to provide a place to ask questions of any level and to share experiences good and bad. That's never in question.

My comment stems from the fact that having been around since the the first old radio list....and seeing that split into a list for virtually every stripe, color and model of old ham radio, we're now seeing duplicates and triplicates of each of these. The result is, the need to subscribe to 3 versions of lists for the same topic (which often contain a high percentage of crosspostings) or miss a discussion because it's happening on reflector #4 of the Blue HamScratchi1 Model 100 list, and you're only subscribed to reflectors #1, #3 and #5.

The ultimate example of this are there innumerable Heathkit lists, where they're subdivided not only by model number, but by people who like list moderator #1 and people who don't like list moderator #1, reflectors that allow Ebay postings and don't allow Ebay postings and on and on and on....

This is progress?

Anyway, I apologize for fanning the flames, and I'll not post more on this topic. It's a beautiful world out there!
