Wasn't thinking, should have known better (I grew up on tubes; I even know what an Eg-Ip curve is!). Check voltages & power supply ripple before starting; re-cap, check voltages & ripple again plus overall operation; clean switches, re-check; clean tube sockets ONE AT A TIME, re-check; touch up alignment carefully, re-check.
