A quick story about connectors. The other day I had the opportunity to go through a box of "stuff" I got at a fest, which held (among other things) several short RG-8 coax jumpers. EVERY single one of them had the PL-259 installed with the braid folded back over the outer jacket and the PL-259 screwed down over the braid. Guess what? Evey single one of them was loose/oxidized and had poor connection. I have seen SO many people install connectors this way, thinking it was fine becuase some "expert" told them it was. NOT! Make sure your connectors are installed PROPERLY, that is, with the braid soldered to the connector shell. 73 -Jim (don't even get me started on crimp-ons) -- Ham Radio NU0C Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.S.A.
