Use it on EVERYTHING that conducts current. I use D100 with cleaning swabs also from Craig Labs. And while the price seems to hurt when ordering, the products are actually priceless. D100 comes in a small container with a needle dispenser. I put a few drops on the swap and start cleaning. Craig Labs has some very good information on their web site ( http://store.caig.com/ ). DeoxIT has so far brought back to life a pair of Cannon Ball head phones that I use with my TR-4. Everything was sounding the same and sorta tinny. DeOxit made them like new. I just cleaned my HQ 170 with it preparing to re-cap it. It is now working much better and 50 MC that was not working at all now workf fine.
So How do you use it? Sparingly.. on everything.. repeat as necessary. I am just a more that satisfied customer of this product. My equipment says how great this stuff is better than I ever could.
