...And my sincerest of thanks to all those many wonderful gents who took the
time to share their thoughts with me in the matter of the drift here caused by
the varying load voltage on my R-4's PTO tube...
You've convinced me: rather than undertaking any sort of a retrofitted re-build
of my receiver, it'd be far & away easier if I was to simply first try what the
original "Hints & Kinks" author did with his Heath receiver, i.e. substitute
6AU6A tubes until one is found that "...stays put"! Hi Hi.
An interesting aside re. the matter of thermal stability: the other day I
looked at the thermometer on the wall of my shack in the basement, & was amazed
to see that it's only 51F down there! No wonder those poor Drake Twin's' PTOs
of mine need a good one, to two hours, of warm-up time to achieve "karma"...!
