If that were the case, it wouldn't work at all. Sideband selection is
accomplished by selection of the fixed passband adjustment pots on the power
supply PCB in the front right corner of your radio. It sounds like you may
still have a dirty/oxidized Molex PCB connector somewhere, or possibly the mode
switch needs cleaning. If you worked anywhere near those fixed passband pots,
you probably bumped one or more of them without even realizing it. They should
be checked as a matter of routine every time the rig is serviced. Adjustment
procedures can be found in the service manual and on the Drakelist web site.
The +10v adjustment should be checked as well, and if it's very far off, set it
to 10.000 and perform the AGC/S-Meter adjustments as well.

The TR-7 service manual really does a very good job of explaining how the radio
works. It would be well worth your time to study it.
