Gang,
OK...lets look at a different perspective....
Lets say you want the BEST radio you can have...for rag chew, weak DX
and contesting...
AND you only want a Drake in your shack......(to go with your Collins
and Halli stuff) for whatever your reason may be... (there are vintage
equipment only hams out there)
Do you put on the Sherwood MODS or just get by with the R-4C stock,
which is not near as capable...??
I can tell you from significant A/B testing the R-4C sherwood is very
capable of full bore contesting and weak DX work...
(I am not a big contester but I play around with it)
One DX contest weekend, just for fun...I left my Orion II and Alpha OFF
all weekend and just used the Drake C line.
WOW, I worded anything I wanted and had a ball.
So, my point is only to point out that there are many different
perspectives with all this.

Lee

Well, old man, if that had come from anyone else but you, I would be
all over
that comment! ;)
Instead, I think I'll just sneak into your house some night and solder
a bunch
of random transistors into random points in your Drakes. :P
