Hello Gene:
Glad it was not the relay. For tubes, unfortunately for the pocketbook,
the best test is to sub in a known good tube. Many times, even a good
tester, will indicate good and a different tube will work.
I would try the 6EV7 as that is what Drake used in the TR-4. I dont
have a C schematice , perhaps someone will add info here.

All,
Update on the TR-4c relay issue. I did the pull test -
i.e. pulled the tube while the radio was hanging in
transmit. The relay immediately opened and radio went
back to receive. Seems that the relay is Ok.
Pulled the 6CG7 and placed it in the Hickok 6000 tester.
It tested as "good" but was low in the transconductance
test - 2100 out of 2600 on one side and 2400 out of 2600 on
the other. Is this tube considered "bad" for this
application?
If so, can I substitute a 6ev7 as the 6FQ7/6CG7s are
getting expensive.
Also, the copy of the TR4C manual that I have shows the
6EV7 as the vox amp/relay driver and has the associated
voltage and resistance measurements for that tube. Does
anyone have a similar chart for the 6FQ7/6CG7 tubes ?
Thanks in advance
