Gentlemen, I have a strange audio problem with my Drake MSR-2 Receiver.
I was listening to the AM broadcast band just now when all of a sudden there was a small "pop" and I lost most of the audio. I can still hear the stations, but they have become very weak. If I turn the audio gain up high the sound starts to distort. This happens both on the built in speaker and the earphones. Now here is what is interesting: when I turn the receiver off and then back on, the normal audio return for just a second or so and then the same little "pop" sound and back to weak audio. This happen every time I turn it off and then back on. I am not a tech, but this sounds like a component that suffers some sort of break down when the power is supplied. Capacitor maybe. Any suggestions on which components to check first? (Of course in the audio section.) Thanks, Kim - K7IM
