  The green LED is a function of the ALC. The LED will light on voice peaks 
when the ALC kicks in and limits power output of the PA section. This is 
typically 110 to 150 watts depending on the band. Your antenna impedance will 
also affect when the LED lights. If you looking at anything other than 50 ohms 
the ALC will will limit sooner, cutting back the PA power output to protect the 
final transistors, and light the LED. Typical TR-7 mic gain will be around 8:00 
to 10:00. Set you mic gain till the LED lights on voice peaks, it should never 
be on solid while on SSB.
