Well Rich already wanted to proof the emails / kill the spam for the list, Alex recomended splitting the list in two, subscribed vs unsubscribed, allowing anything posted by a subscriber through, and filtering the unsubscribed postings.
I mean I've heard of Viagra and Propecia (I think) but what the heck Phentermine and Xenical are is beyond me. I assume filtering of sf mailng lists is not possible because filtering on: viagra, porn, mortage - would catch about half of the spam.
