About a month ago I tried using newest xorg, mesa, dri, and drm from svn/git.
It still continued not to work.
Maybe fill a bug with xorg.log (i remember you filled a bug or raised the issue
on this list but i can get my hand on this right now) and more information on
your configuration. I would have though that fix for 9800 would help for other 9xxx.
Meanwhile i think fsf can help only by trying to work with hardware vendor.
I tried one time to get in touch with ATI people, so far i never get any answer.
Maybe try getting in touch with AMD people, i think they got clearance for
their merge with ATI and now only are waiting for ATI shareholder.
I also think we lack people to work on that, or at least people working on that
lack time, i would like to contribute more but my time is already almost fullfill
by my work.
