There are also Pentium3 notebooks that use i830 chipsets.  I know that
the Thinkpad R31 does.  Given the choice between a Savage IX (like in
the Thinkpad T21) or a Rage128 mobility (M3 or M4), it's probably a coin
toss.  I'd probably lean slightly towards the ATI chips.

A SuperSavage (like in the Thinkpad T23) or Savage4 MX would probably
better than the Rage M3 or M4.  In all honesty, if graphics is
important, you'd be much better off with a Radeon M6 (Thinkpad X22) or
an i830.

Looking on eBay, the T21 and R31 are the least expensive (both go for
$100 or less).  The X22 is a step up at ~$150, and the T23 is a bit more
still at ~$200.

The bias towards Thinkpads isn't because I work for IBM.  It because
http://thinkwiki.org/ has all the info right at my finger tips. :)
