hrm, i like them - mailing lists, if run decently though, can be just as effective.
mediawiki for the win then - although i think it has a lot of funky features/bugs :) (i don't have an alternative though - i kind of hate wikis, heh) as far as forums go there are ton in php - vbulletin imho is the king daddy (but requires a license), all the others have varying levels of support/stability/etc. i come from a past where phpbb was pretty simple and buggy, it's advanced a lot more since then. i wound up writing my own basic forum instead of using what was out there at the time... i think we could role model eating our own dog food the minute a semi-stable drizzle daemon is around. would be good real-world testing of any implementation gotchas (i.e. using php to drizzle, i assume for the moment will still use mysql/mysqli functions?), any possible schema differences, etc. of course, we don't want the website to be unstable or have any issues due to the db itself! :) does launchpad fit the bill for bug tracking, a "wishlist" of features (RFE?) and such?
