Stefanie,
For our ETDs, we use a modification of the marc2dc perl script on CPAN.
It is still a complex process. Essentially we have to upload the files
in a batch to a hidden DSpace collection, catalog it (assign the DSpace
'handle' to the marc 856), export the DSpace collection, crosswalk the
marc records to the export directory tree files, then import the fixed
up collection into a public collection. We do save cataloging labor, but
it is complex enough that we are considering other solutions.
