Hello Stefanie,
While I'm not aware of any specific pre-built workflows for sending
content between DSpace and Evergreen, DSpace does have some APIs that
could be used to automate adding content into it. So, it seems plausible
that one might be able to automate this via a script or an Evergreen
"plugin" (if such a thing is possible on the Evergreen side).
Specifically DSpace supports:
* A read/write REST API (as of DSpace 5.x):
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/REST+API This might be
used to add or update content from an external application/script.
* A SWORD (version 1 and version 2) interface, which can be specifically
used to deposit content from a remote application (by sending a valid
SWORD package). For more information on SWORD protocol, see:
http://swordapp.org/
* DSpace specific docs are at:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/SWORDv1+Server and
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/SWORDv2+Server
I'll admit, I don't have enough knowledge of Evergreen to know if one of
these options might be helpful. If there's a way to even export records
from Evergreen, you also may be able to find a way to transform them
into a batch upload package for DSpace. More on DSpace import packages &
batch uploading is available here:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Importing+and+Exporting+Items+via+Simple+Archive+Format
I hope that at least gives you a few resources to check out. Hopefully
if there's someone else in the DSpace community who has built (or would
help you build) a connection between Evergreen and DSpace, they will
speak up.
Good luck,
Tim Donohue

Hello,
I'm a resident in the National Digital Stewardship Residency in Boston
helping the State Library of Massachusetts analyze their digital
preservation workflows. They use DSpace as their digital repository
and Evergreen as their OPAC. The staff currently catalogs an item in
Evergreen, then has to ingest it separately into DSpace. There's a lot
of overlap in the information they need to populate, so lots of
copying and pasting between the two systems. I'm wondering if there's
a way to create a crosswalk between the two to create a more efficient
workflow, or if there is something like this already out there. Is
there anyone using Evergreen and DSpace who has considered this, or
similar ideas?
Thanks!
Stefanie
